Please Help:
We Need Volunteers who will help to run the library (take bookings, sign up new members, check things in and out), so that we can open on more days.
Ilkley Thingery is a not-for-profit project that needs to be run by volunteers to keep going. Since opening, one person has done most of the work, and so we are only open for limited hours. To make the Thingery successful, we need to be open on most days of the week - so that people can use the library This LIBRARY of THINGS). This project was set up to encourage and facilitate sharing, and to promote environmental sustainability and community building in Ilkley and surrounding areas.
It would be great to build a thriving community where sharing is the norm, and access to a wide range of items and experiences is available to ALL. We hope to build a sustainable future by promoting environmentally conscious behaviours, nurturing social connections, helping people access Things in an environmentally supportive way, and to explore their passions and hobbies.
We need volunteers to help with things such as:
- Sort donations *
- Clean Things *
- Catalogue stock *
- Test that items are complete or working *
- Tell people about the Thingery *
- Help with social media *
- Keep our website up to date *
- Run the library for a few hours *
- Organise or Run Workshops and Repair Cafes
- Repair Things (you must be qualified for this role)
- PAT test our electrical Things (all portable electrical items are PAT tested - you must be qualified for this role)
